Asian American Youth Summit. The MCPS Asian American Education Association is sponsoring the third annual Asian American Youth Summit on Saturday, April 1, at Gaithersburg High School. The event will feature performances by the Tsunami Theater and Tou Ger Xiong. Student registration begins at 11 a.m. The event includes performances, a career panel, breakout sessions, a dinner and a dance. Whitman Community Youth Summit. The second Whitman Community Youth Summit will take place on April 3-4 at Walt Whitman High School. Sponsored by the Whitman Cluster Ethics Committee, this student-initiated seminar will provide education and raise awareness about issues that affect the lives of teenagers. Topics will include moral dilemmas, tolerance, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, safe driving, depression and other issues. Guest speakers from various organizations will lead classroom discussions during the school day. A health and safety fair and celebration concert will conclude the events. Montgomery Area Science Fair. More than 300 science projects of Montgomery County students in grades 6-12 will be on display at the 44th Annual Montgomery Area Science Fair-Millennium Edition. The event will be held March 31 and April 1 and 2 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg. The public is invited to view the projects on Saturday, April 1, from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday, April 2, from noon-2 p.m. Winners will be announced Sunday at 2 p.m. For more information, call 301-279-3421.

Eager to learn: Creating the Right Learning Environment at Home and at School. Superintendent Jerry D. Weast will be the keynote speaker at a two-part parenting lecture series at the Suburban Hospital auditorium on Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. A panel discussion will follow on Wednesday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. The panel will feature Judie Muntner, MCPS Interim Associate Superintendent for Instruction and Program Development, and other leading educators and experts on child development.
