Dear Gaithersburg High School Parents, Guardians and Families,

This email (and attached letter) is to inform you that two individuals who were last present at Gaithersburg High School between Tuesday, March 9, 2021 and Friday, March 12, 2021, are presumed positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

Following Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) guidelines, we notified individuals who were known to have direct contact with this individual and have advised them to quarantine for 14 days.   We are following the recommendations from DHHS, and out of an abundance of caution, all staff and students from the classrooms with the presumed positive individuals will move to virtual instruction for the next 14 days, unless cleared by DHHS to return earlier.   

Per current DHHS guidance and our contact tracing process, unless you are notified directly, your child does not need to be tested or quarantine, as they were not in direct contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19.

We encourage you to closely monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. If your child develops any of these symptoms, do not send them to school. You should contact your healthcare provider immediately for advice. Please contact the school if your child develops COVID-19-like symptoms. Students who develop symptoms, or test positive for COVID-19, will not be able to  return to the building until they are medically cleared.

Este correo electrónico (y la carta adjunta) es para informarle que dos personas que estuvieron presentes por última vez en la escuela secundaria Gaithersburg entre el martes 9 de marzo de 2021 y el viernes 12 de marzo de 2021 se presumen positivas para el coronavirus (COVID-19).

Siguiendo las pautas del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos del Condado de Montgomery (DHHS), notificamos a las personas que se sabía que tenían contacto directo con esta persona y les aconsejamos que se pusieran en cuarentena durante 14 días. Seguimos las recomendaciones del DHHS y, por mucha precaución, todo el personal y los estudiantes de las aulas con presuntos individuos positivos pasarán a la instrucción virtual durante los próximos 14 días, a menos que el DHHS lo autorice a regresar antes.

Comuníquese con la escuela si su hijo presenta síntomas similares a COVID-19. Los estudiantes que desarrollen síntomas o den positivo por COVID-19, no podrán regresar al edificio hasta que estén médicamente aprobados.
