MCPS Back-to-School Fair to Celebrate the Opening of 2022-2023 School Year

August 4, 2022

Don’t miss the fun at this year’s Montgomery County Public Schools’ Back-to-School Fair at Westfield Wheaton!

Come kick off the 2022–2023 school year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27. Learn about the system’s programs and services, along with resources from government agencies and community partners. School system staff will be on hand to answer questions about the MCPS curriculum and programs. There will be music, entertainment, children’s activities, health screenings, giveaways, and more.

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services will provide free required immunizations and COVID-19 vaccinations.

Free round-trip shuttle buses will run from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. between the fair and the following sites:

  • Gaithersburg
  • Montgomery Blair
  • Paint Branch
  • Richard Montgomery

The last shuttles will leave the mall and return to shuttle stop locations at 2 p.m. Elementary-aged children must be accompanied by a parent, other adult or older sibling to ride the shuttles.

Westfield Wheaton, a proud Back-to-School Fair partner, is located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road at the intersection of Veirs Mill and University Boulevard in Wheaton. The fair will be in three locations: on the upper level in the area known as The Streetery, on the lower level outside near Dick’s Sporting Goods featuring MCPS Buses, Police and Fire vehicles, and career education demonstrations, and finally inside near Dick’s Sporting Goods where all vaccinations and immunizations will take place.
