Senior at Montgomery Blair High School to Address National School Boards Association Conference
Leadership for Student Achievement Day is a special part of the conference that focuses on individuals' personal stories of how schools are promoting greater student achievement. Ms. Veiga, whose speech is titled "The Public Education of Ms. Diana Veiga It's All Good," will share the stage with a number of well-known figures, including Carl Rowan, founder of the Project Excellence scholarship program.
Ms. Veiga's address tells of the high value that her family put on education and the support they provided. She traces her early years of education at Oakview and Maryvale elementary schools, where she participated in the French Immersion Program, in the Humanities and Communications Arts Magnet at Eastern Middle School, and currently in the CAP at Montgomery Blair High School. She also touches on the value she received from extracurricular activities and tells of her experiences as an African American in a multicultural environment.
Now in its second year, Leadership for Student Achievement Day is a reflection of the NSBA's focus on increasing knowledge on raising student achievement.
