Meeting Set on Special Education Services

October 13, 2006
Families with special needs students in private or religious school, or who are home-schooled, will be able to consult with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) staff about services available to their children.

As required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA 2004), MCPS personnel must meet with representatives of children with disabilities in private and religious schools, or those who are home-schooled. The meeting will cover information on which children are eligible to receive services, what services are available, and how and where the services will be provided.

Parents, as well as staff from private and religious schools, are encouraged to attend the meeting, which is scheduled for October 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Carver Educational Services Center auditorium, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville.

The meeting is open to the public. Those attending are asked to RSVP by email to Nancy_Lucas@mcpsmd.org.
