Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will join with parent and community groups to celebrate the nationally recognized Week of the Young Child from April 18 through April 24.

The week will culminate with a "Celebration of Families," sponsored by MCPS, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, the Montgomery County Council of PTAs, the Early Childhood Committee of the Montgomery County Collaboration of Children, Youth and Families, the Maryland Community Association for the Education of Young Children, Montgomery College and the Network for Children.

The celebration, designed to emphasize the importance of families and children, will take place at Wheaton Plaza on April 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature entertainment, hands-on activities, community resource information and giveaways.

Families also may bring their children's immunization records to the mall for a review by representatives from the county's Department of Health Services.
