Discovery Communications to Kick Off Statewide Media Literacy and Critical Viewing Program in Montgomery County
Later in the day, similar age-appropriate programs will be offered at Tilden Middle School and Farmland Elementary School.
The multi-media interactive program will be led by Dr. Renee Hobbs, a leader in the field of media education. Participants will explore concerns, consequences and influences related to the media, including the issue of violence.
Future conferences will be offered to all public schools across the state throughout the coming school year.
Judith McHale, president of Discovery Communications, and Nancy Grasmick, state superintendent of schools, are scheduled to introduce the new program at Walter Johnson High School at 9:00 a.m. Sessions will also be held at Tilden Middle School at noon and at Farmland Elementary School at 2:00 p.m.
