Character Education Conference on October 18

Montgomery County Public Schools is sponsoring the fourth annual Conference on Character Education, “Developing World-Class Citizens 2002.” The conference will take place on Friday, October 18, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Northwest High School.

Guest speaker Gerda Weissmann Klein is a Holocaust survivor whose life story was the basis for an Academy Award winning documentary. She is an activist for peace and non-violence issues.

This year’s conference includes 15 workshops geared to staff, parents, and business/community leaders. Workshop topics include: Infusing Character Education into Standards-Based Instruction, Promoting Character in High School Through Student and Faculty Empowerment, and a showcase featuring videos on multiculturalism and bullying.
