The attached chart provides information regarding the numbers of bilingual pupil personnel workers (PPWs), psychologists, and parent community coordinators (PCCs) who are in the system. Information about English transition counselors, school-based English for Speakers of Other Languages counselors, and college career information coordinators also is included.
- The Division of Pupil Personnel and Attendance Services has 52.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) PPWs, nine (17.3 percent) of them are bilingual in Spanish.
- MCPS employs 117.5 FTE school psychologists, both in the Office of Special Education and the Office of Student and Family Support and Engagement (OSFSE). Currently, there are 95.5 school psychologists within the Division of Psychological Services and the Bilingual Assessment Team in OSFSE. Of those psychologists, 34 (35.6 percent) are bilingual in the following languages: Chinese/Mandarin; German; Hebrew; Hindi; Korean; Polish; Punjabi; Spanish; Turkish; Urdu and American Sign Language; and Vietnamese.
- The Division of Student, Family, and School Services (DSFSS) has 36 FTE PCCs who serve English language learner families. Thirty-two (88.9 percent) of the 36 PCCs are bi-or tri-lingual, and provide systemwide family outreach services in Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese, as requested by parents/guardians and schools.
- OSFSE has 9.9 English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) transition counselors (ETCs). All ETCs (100 pecent) speak multiple languages.
- OSFSE has seven school-based ESOL counselors who all (100 percent) speak multiple languages.
- Each MCPS high school has a college career information coordinator (CCIC). Of the 25 CCICs, two (eight percent) are bilingual.
