EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops a comprehensive educational equity strategy, including inclusive strategies, for the district. 2. Provides consultation, support, and professional learning opportunities for innovative educational programs of MCPS, including, but not limited to, instructional services, special services, professional development, and student activities and athletics. 3. Informs, guides, and advises the Superintendent and the School Board on matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as challenges of distance learning, diversity in admissions, access to student services, and disciplinary disproportionality. 4. Collaborates to identify and review research-based programs, initiatives, and best practices that utilize an equity lens and a philosophy that reflects innovative thinking. 5. Conducts strategic analyses and develops clear and quantifiable goals and objectives for culturally responsive educational practices. 6. Collaborates with departments and manages high-performing action teams tasked with implementing equitable and inclusive practices and monitoring the outcomes. 7. Works with the Office of Human Resources and Development to research and analyze organizational data and develop recruitment strategies that attract a diverse workforce. 8. Promotes a commitment to a climate of equity and inclusion, while serving as the district liaison to external equity-related educational committees, task forces, work groups, and initiatives and with federal, state, and county education officials. 9. Helps to plan, develop, and implement an instructional pedagogy that is contemporary, learner-centered, and focused inclusively on all students attaining the skills and attributes of the Strategic Plan. 10. Provides counsel and direction to principals and program managers on educational equity issues. 11. Monitors professional development programs for teachers, school administrators, and staff for evidence-based strategies that accelerate student achievement, promote cultural responsiveness, and contribute to a district-wide caring culture. 12. Identifies, supports, and monitors training and strategies for addressing gaps in student performance. 13. Develops short- and long-term plans, professional learning strategies, and an equity scorecard for the district that align with, support, and refine the Strategic Plan. 14. Manages risk and matters of compliance related to local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and mandates. 15. Provides direction and guidance to the Hearings Office; ensures adherence to equitable discipline principles. 16. Ensures that the consortium and magnet program recruitment and admissions process reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. 17. Performs related duties as required or assigned.
