EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the implementation and operation of all technology infrastructure deployed across schools and central services locations which includes enterprise systems administration, data center functions, physical and wireless local and wide area network services, telephone, service monitoring, user support/help desk, UNIX and Windows server administration, Exchange, Office 365, Google Education suite, storage and related software.Supervises the programs and projects to ensure the availability, integrity, and security for all IT systems and infrastructure.Leads the infrastructure and operations teams with overall responsibility for technology infrastructure planning and deployment of technology services including contact center and telecommunication systems.Prepares security reports and participates in security management committee meetings and presentations. Engages with staff both internally and across the organization on risk assessments and assists in preparing necessary reports, recommendations, and tracking of remediation activities.Manages security initiatives including oversight of operational security activities performed by department staff. Collaborates with stakeholders on organization-wide security related activities involving processes, procedures, and policies. Provides participation and oversight of disaster recovery and incident response planning, testing, documenting, and reporting activities.Creates and manages a large operating budget to include all aspects of department spending.Managing and negotiating large-scale service contracts.Maintaining vendor relationships for the purpose of evaluating new services or renewing terms and contract details for existing.Participate in the management of the capital budget as it relates to qualified projects and service details.Performs evaluations for staff, in line with the professional growth system.Understands and manages the department and infrastructure in accordance with government regulations around K-12, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), and The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).Participates and advises on new and existing vendor relationships, evaluating them for data security, data privacy, and appropriate terms and conditions.Familiarity with government educational funding programs, such as Erate.Models and leads the engineering and support team.Makes technical decisions and works closely with other directors in OSI and cross functionally with other offices.Demonstrates strong communication and leadership skills in a continuous improvement business environment.Works with multiple project teams simultaneously and thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environment.Provides planning, project management and implementation leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement, cost savings, and service quality improvement.Collaborates in the formulation of the district's enterprise architecture and business system plans; assessing cost and feasibility, and ensuring the plans are aligned with and supports the strategic goals of the business.Provides direct oversight, problem-solving leadership for complex infrastructure implementation, system upgrades, and operational troubleshooting.Implements comprehensive disaster recovery architecture and operations, including storage area network and redundant, highly-available server and network architectures.Uses the MCPS professional growth systems to develop, support, and evaluate staff.Develops, supervises, and evaluates staff responsible for quality assurance, configuration management, testing, client servers, database management and data control.Delegates responsibility to unit supervisors as appropriate.Performs related work as required.
