EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, develops, delivers, and enhances software products, systems and platforms. Directs the design, development and delivery of high-quality systems and solutions.Collaborates with the chief technology officer and other OCTO directors in leading the formulation of student information, learning management, database reporting systems, and architectures. Leads and manages the department¿s development activities, costs, quality practices, and customer/stakeholder requirements.Collaborates effectively with other OCTO directors to develop strategies, deliver solutions, and monitor work. Ensures that infrastructure and resource supports are available for development teams and all department staff.Assures continuous alignment of development plans and activity with established goals and priorities. Directs, motivates and develops staff and teams. Facilitates smooth workflow and ensures high standards and quality of technical work. Reviews and analyzes existing applications programs and programs in development to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of those programs.Reviews requests for program changes required to meet needs of departments required by the addition of new district programs and changes in legislation. Prepares regular reports for the CTO showing functioning of the system, status of program development and department needs. Provides supporting information required for the preparation of annual budget figures for the department, including justifications for upgrading hardware, software, and resources needed to ensure timely response to needs of the office¿s established work program.Demonstrates strong communication and leadership skills in a continuous improvement business environment.Uses the MCPS professional Growth Systems to develop, support, and evaluate staff.Performs related work as required.
