EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, create, and coordinate multi- pronged communications campaigns that programs that communicate the vision and educational goals of MCPS.Engages in dynamic public interaction projecting professionalism, imagination, enthusiasm and energy to build support for MCPS educational programs, processes and policies.Oversee the Department of Public Information and Web Services to ensure information disseminated to the public is accurate, timely, and reflect the mission, vision and core principals of MCPS. Oversee MCPS-TV to ensure the production of high-quality, innovative and effect programming. Oversee the Language Assistance Services unit to ensure parents can access important MCPS information regardless of their native language.Consults with administrative staff to assure clear, concise communications that serve their intended purposes.Serves as the MCPS Public Information Officer.Support the Maryland Public Information Act process. Builds and maintains excellent relationships with news media and provides them with needed information that communicates MCPS programs and activities, and the policies and viewpoints of the superintendent and Board of Education.Counsels the superintendent, MCPS leadership, members of the Board and other staff regarding public relations and communications issues and strategies.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
