EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In alignment with MCPS' core values, effectively supports work around equitable, culturally responsive instruction with the goal of ensuring academic success is not predictable by race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, language proficiency, or disability.2. Implements research-based practices that support the mitigation of learning disruption as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic or any other factors that may cause learning disruption.3. Identifies needs for curriculum development and instructional program improvement; designs, and conducts evaluations of new and existing curricula and instructional programs, and interprets the program to the professional staff, Board of Education, and the community.4. Provides support to the instructional programs through the identification, evaluation, and selection of instructional materials, and through the development and maintenance of curricula and assessments.5. Leads the design and implementation of curriculum and instructional programming associated with virtual and hybrid instruction.6. Leads the design and implementation of professional development in curriculum, instruction, and assessment for the office for a variety of purposes, including virtual and in-person learning, as well as summer programs and instruction during the traditional school year.7. Manages all Request for Proposals (RFP) when selecting new PreK-12 curricular resources in the department of PreK-12 Curriculum.8. Supports planning and implementation of grants for the Office of PreK-12 Curriculum.9. Supports departments and teams in curriculum and assessment development, professional development, and implementation support to schools on new initiatives and/or in special circumstances for the teams.10. Establishes collaborative relationships with other MCPS offices, county agencies, higher education and business partners, as well as the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) that support the mission of the department.11. Supports districtwide efforts in policy and regulation development, review, and implementation, such as grading and reporting and high school graduation requirements. 12. Works with parent and community groups to solicit feedback and ongoing input in the development and implementation of instruction and programs. 13. Supports the development and implementation of extended school year programming.14. Coordinates the review and use of proven, research-based methods and strategies for curricular development and implementation.15. Develops and presents information and programs to the Board of Education, professional staff groups, and community groups.16. Actively promotes research and development work to identify new and innovative programs and practices17. Works with community and school groups to build their knowledge of curriculum and instruction.18. Actively pursues opportunities for life-long learning and professional growth.19. Provides leadership in designing and developing new programs and initiatives to meet identified needs. Uses creative and critical thinking in curriculum work, staff management, and problem solving. 20. Coordinates responses to MPIA requests, Board of Education questions, and public testimony.21. Performs related work as required.
