EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides management and direction for the Division of Programs and Services.2. Oversees the identification of program needs in individual school buildings and clusters to ensure special education programs and services are accessible to all students. 3. Oversees the administration of special schools for students with disabilities; monitors the development and implementation of School Improvement Management Plans that address identified school needs and support the Success for Every Student Plan.4. Serves as liaison between the director of the Department of Special Education and general education school administrators on issues related to special education staffing and programming.5. Assists general and special education staff in implementing an effective instructional program, the MCPS Program of Studies, and the Success for Every Student plan for students with disabilities.6. Develops effective partnerships among families, the community, other county agencies, business and stage agencies to promote the success of students with disabilities.7. Oversees the provision of related services that support students with disabilities in their instructional program.8. Oversees management of fiscal accounts and expenditures for special education programs and services.9. Works with general and special education administrators and special education staff to coordinate and implement the annual review process.10. Serves as liaison with MSDE and Infants and Toddlers.11. Performs related work as required.
