EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyzes, shares, and uses school and student achievement data to develop and implement the school improvement management plan.2. Collaborates with central office staff to design processes for student needs, including curriculum, instruction, staffing, special education, ESOL, and scheduling. 3. Implements systematic procedures to assess the effectiveness both the day 4. Monitors curriculum implementation to ensure that the appropriate content and sequence are followed.5. Supervises and leads all staff in building a repertoire of strategies that send messages of high expectations for all students through the use of innovative technologies. 6. Ensures that MCPS policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws are followed.7. Directs, motivates, and develops staff and teams.8. Interfaces with Career and Postsecondary Partnerships and develops relationships with businesses, higher education institutions and other partners to provide career and postsecondary opportunities for students.9. Actively promotes research and development work to identify new and innovative programs and practices. 10. Uses creative and critical thinking in curriculum work, staff management, and problem solving. 11. Demonstrates strong communication and leadership skills in a continuous improvement environment. 12. Directs staff to collaborate and coordinate with middle and high school principals to ensure alignment of individual student program and transition to/from the virtual academy. 13. Collaborates with other district virtual academy leaders in Maryland and across the country to share and learn best practices. 14. Guides staff in developing a master schedule and related duty assignments.15. Coordinates the development and implementation of a school discipline policy that is consistent with the MCPS policy on Student Rights and Responsibilities and state law.16. Works with teachers, parents, the Educational Management Team and the School Admission, Review and Dismissal Team to ensure appropriate programming for all students.17. Identifies staff training needs; develops and implements school improvement training plan to meet those needs.18. Supervises and evaluates staff.19. Develops requests for staffing and resources.20. Prepares a variety of written reports and correspondence.21. Establishes and maintains relationships with the PTA and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement.22. Serves on MCPS task forces and committees.23. Performs related work as required.
