WORKING TITLE: Supervisor, Equity Initiatives Unit GRADE: O MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, the Supervisor in the Equity Initiatives Unit will support the director in all aspects of coordinating the district-wide goal of becoming an antiracist, equitable, and inclusive school district where outcomes are not predictable by race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status. The Supervisor will work closely with the Office of Strategic Initiative and Director of the Equity Initiatives Unit to oversee the action phase of the Antiracist System Audit. Responsibilities include: engaging and collaborating with all MCPS leaders and stakeholder groups to develop the culture, structures, professional learning, and resources needed for MCPS to become an antiracist, equitable, and inclusive school district.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated experience with leading organizational change, co-creating professional learning, designing effective adult learning, coaching leaders, and engaging diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of antiracism, equity, inclusion, and how these concepts and practices relate to Pre-K-12 education. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Beliefs and actions reflect the mission, vision, and core values of the district. This position requires the knowledge and application of the six leadership standards established for the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals Administrative and Supervisory Professional Growth System.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited college or university or at least five years of relevant work experience. Training, coursework, and/or experience with organizational change, antiracism, equity, and inclusion. Experience in developing and delivering DEI modules and resources; coaching district level leaders to lead for equity and inclusion; and organizing or facilitating dialogue with diverse stakeholder groups. Administrative and/or supervisory experience preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland certification requirements for Administrator I certification or five years of relevant experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Frequent extended day work required. Leading and attending evening meetings with stakeholder groups or attending or presenting at evening Board of Education.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works with director and Office of Strategic Initiatives to lead the Antiracist Audit Steering Committee and coordinate the development and implementation of action steps that result from the audit. 2. Consults with central leadership to design, plan, and provide resources and professional development to lead for equity; collaborates with other offices; develops, implements, and evaluates professional learning to promote leading for equity; conducts and facilitates dialogue on race and equity at leadership meetings 3.Coaches district and school-based leaders to address both acute and long-term challenges 4. Serves on system-wide work groups and project teams as an advocate for the inclusion of antiracist, equitable, and inclusive educational practices.
