EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Liaison Function: a. Serves as liaison between the Student Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and the Construction Trades Foundation (CTF), the principal at each Foundation program site, and the Foundation Director. b. Meets regularly with school staff at program sites to support program quality and staff. c. Meets with principals. d. Keeps principals informed in matters pertaining to ATF/CTF program. e. Maintains an open line of communication with OIPD Superintendent. f. Develops and presents information and programs to the BOE, professional staff groups and community groups. g. Establishes collaborative relationships with other offices and agencies in MCPS and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) that supports the mission of the Foundation department. h. Works with post-secondary education colleagues to strengthen articulation and development of a seamless pre-K-16 system. 2. Instructional Leadership:a. Supervises ATF/CTF teachers in the following: i. Classroom organization and management. ii. Selecting, locating and securing materials and equipment needed for ATF vehicles. iii. Selecting, locating, and securing materials and equipment needed for the Young American House project. iv. Self-evaluation, self-improvement. v. Overall program evaluation. b. Helps foster cohesive, cooperative pattern of interpersonal relationships between ATF/CTF teachers at all sites. c. Meets periodically with principals and Foundation Director about ATF/CTF sites and requirements for program implementation. d. Develops and manages the MCPS budget dealing with Foundation programs maintenance, development and improvements. 3. Program and Teacher Growth and Development: a. Leads the selection and evaluation process for department staff; provides necessary administrative and supervisory function for appropriate leadership of the department staff. b. Assists principal with ATF/CTF teacher evaluations. c. Visits classes to appraise program quality and confers with teachers about observations. d. Confers frequently with the resource teachers at ATF/CTF sites. e. Coordinates planning ATF/CTF staff development activities with the Foundation Specialists. 4. Curriculum Development: a. Keeps informed of new trends and programs in the ATF/CTF fields of responsibility. b. Participates in in-service activities related to duties. c. Provides leadership for the development and implementation of appropriate curriculum for ATF/CTF programs. 5. Foundation Responsibilities: a. Works with community and school groups to build their knowledge of curriculum and instruction as it relates to the ATF and CTF. b. Supervises Foundation staff workloads. c. Provides leadership in designing and developing new programs and initiatives to meet identified needs. d. Ability to utilize the resources of MCPS and other government agencies. e. Establish and maintain community relations. f. Knowledge of and ability to perform automotive service and dealership activities. g. Knowledge of automotive repair job costing. h. Knowledge of MVA procedures and process. i. Knowledge of the latest in residential construction and the ability to perform these tasks. j. Knowledge of residential construction job costing. k. Knowledge of the Montgomery County permitting services. l. Knowledge of the subdivision development process. m. Understanding of and the ability to perform basic architecture drafting and design. n. Experience in contractor/sub-contractor management. o. Knowledge of banking/finances in order to create proposed budgets, manage expenses to support ATF/CTF expenses. p. Knowledge of the Real Estate process, including marketing, contract negotiations, purchase, settlement, punch lists and service after the sale. q. Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously. r. Planning and implementation of the annual dinner, career day, industry visitations, acceptance of donations and title work, marketing, ATF/CTF meetings, insurance maintenance, vehicle work flow, and inventory. s. Prepare agenda and materials for and manage the monthly ATF/CTF meetings. t. Manage the preparation and completion of the annual audit. u. Manage the day to day operations of the Corporations. v. Ability to work with manufacture's representative and suppliers. w. Ability to manage public relations events. x. Ability to delegate responsibility and authority. y. Other management activities as identified by the ATF/CTF Board.
