EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize direct support to IB schools in the area of professional learning for staff, resources, and assessment management at the school and county level.Lead support to MCPS high schools to increase participation and performance in AP and IB courses, including instructional approaches and data analysis and support.Collaborate with external partners such as IB and the College Board to mobilize resources and support for MCPS priorities. Lead systemwide initiatives for new programming and innovative approaches that lead to AP and IB success.Organize and collaborate to assist school-based coordinators for IB authorization/reauthorization and program verification visits from the International Baccalaureate Organization. Provides support to school leadership on the implementation of curriculum in alignment with the Professional Growth System based on curriculum design and walk through feedback. Work with staff from other MCPS offices and departments to collaborate on the design, development, and implementation of innovative student and staff programs that support system initiatives and priorities.Collect ongoing data and make recommendations for improving monitoring of AP courses and IB programs, programs for intervention, and support needs within programs to ensure alignment with the philosophy and expectations for IB and AP courses.Collect data and prepare responses to requests for information about special programming and expansion of the IB programs; interpret special projects to the Montgomery County Board of Education, staff, parents, and community; and keep abreast of latest research, curriculum developments, and techniques related to system initiatives and priorities.Organize and collaborate with school coordinators and principals to develop action plans in alignment with the school¿s School Improvement Plan (SIP) and the implementation of AP programs and IB coursework.Monitor and provide feedback to coordinators on teacher training opportunities within schools and external AP or IB professional development workshops based on SIP and program goals. Collaborate with Montgomery College and MCPS curriculum supervisors to implement AP professional learning for staff. Collaborate with curriculum supervisors to develop practices and programs that lead to increased participation and performance in AP and IB courses for underrepresented student groups.Monitor and provide assistance with AP and IB exam administration, including support for ongoing data analysis by subject area for each exam cycle.Prepare required reports, correspondence, and annual budget requests; manage expenditures and accounts for IB expenditures; recommend allocation of grant funds according to the needs and best utilization; and maintain files, records, and/or expenditure controls.Collaborate with other MCPS offices and departments, community groups, and institutions of higher education to develop grant proposals for the improvement of teaching and learning.Communicate effectively with students, staff, administrative and supervisory personnel, parents/guardians, and community on AP courses and on the IB mission for the county.Coordinate partnership programs and activities with community groups and colleges/universities and advocate to promote and support students¿ academic success.Collaborate with other local school systems to foster continuous improvement in teaching and learning and to align cooperative efforts with schools and school system strategic plans.Serve as a liaison between the IB Organization, College Board, and MCPS. Collaborate with MSDE on funding from the Federal Government for AP/IB exams.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
