SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under the direction of the Chief of Teaching, Learning, and Schools (OTLS), the OTLS coordinator is responsible for supporting the OTLS executive and senior leadership team with aligning bodies of work with the vision, mission and goals of OTLS. Assists in coordination of OTLS administrative service managers, copy editors and grant management. Provides support to specialists across OTLS. Supports and communicates with OTLS associates, directors, and coordinators. Keeps abreast of national and state trends across disciplines to obtain information for programmatic improvements. Assists with the organizational development of OTLS and central office professional learning. Edits and reviews reports, presentations, action plans and correspondence for the chief; collects and analyzes data to inform educational and operational decisions; manages projects and collaborates on establishing processes, procedures and structures as part of strategic planning. Serves on a variety of committees. Co-leads and serves as the contact person for identified partnership programs, and works collaboratively with staff on projects and initiatives as determined by the chief.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of school and organizational leadership theory and practices; current research, principles, and practices of adult learning; equity and antiracism, and other related bodies of research. Knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools instructional program, policies and procedures, supervision theories, strategic planning, and data analysis. Knowledge of funding and budget management related to special projects and programs. Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively with school system staff, county government, business and agency partners, and the community. Excellent planning, organization, management, communications (oral and written) and human relations skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an accredited college or university or at least five years of relevant work experience with leadership, curriculum, assessment, instruction, and supervision. Training, coursework, and/or experience with organizational change, antiracism, equity, inclusion. Five years outstanding professional experience in their area of expertise and level. Successful recent leadership experiences in supporting adult learners, facilitating professional learning and growth, assessing program needs, instructional practices, and program implementation desirable. Experience working effectively with institutions of higher learning, community and government partner agencies, and businesses. Experience managing projects required. Experience in data analysis, monitoring grants and budget, and policy and regulation development desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland requirements for certification in administration and supervision (Administrator I) or obtains certification within one year of the position start date.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works collaboratively with OTLS executive and senior leadership to monitor and manage the implementation, effectiveness and impact of OTLS critical initiatives. 2. Prepares/oversees agendas and presentations for meetings. 3. Serve as project manager for board of education presentations. 4. Assists in building a professional learning community across OTLS through professional learning, meetings, retreats, events and other professional activities. 5. Develops proposals for outside funding to support program improvements. 6. Collects, analyzes and interprets data and prepares responses to requests for information and keeps abreast of latest research, developments, and techniques in district leadership. 7. Plans and coordinates activities that involve parents, community, and business sector to support district initiatives and student outcomes. 8. Works collaboratively with others to design, plan, and implement events and activities reinforcing wellness throughout OTLS. 9. Participates in interviewing and hiring. 10. Collaborate with grants specialists regarding budget needs and monitoring for special projects. 11. Seeks out opportunities to work in a collaborative and coordinated manner with internal and external stakeholders.
