SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Assists the assistant chief professional learning and development (ACPLD) to facilitate the integration of the diverse streams of work between and among offices to align the district¿s vision for a comprehensive professional learning plan. The focus of the professional learning plan is to equip, develop and support employees in order that Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) may be a consistently improving, self-renewing organization whose employees learn and apply the knowledge, skills and best practices needed to maximize student performance and ensure student well-being. The executive assistant is tasked with researching, developing, designing, editing, and reviewing correspondence and professional learning plans, preparing reports, project plans, and presentations. Facilitates the collaboration with other MCPS central offices to ensure that support and services to schools is consistent and focused on improving teaching, learning, and best practices. In addition, the executive assistant will support the ACPLD to establish a comprehensive digital platform to manage the system-wide professional development opportunities for all staff. Responsibilities also include supporting the leadership development programs to include opportunities for multiple roles to have leadership development opportunities and support the system efforts to increase diversity in the workforce.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of school operations, organizational and leadership development; knowledge of MCPS pre-K through 12 instructional program, policies and procedures; demonstrated knowledge of process management, strategic planning, professional development, and data analysis practices and methods. Ability to provide guidance and work collaboratively with all schools. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, policies, and procedures. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple and diverse stakeholders. Possesses practical and conceptual, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to lead and facilitate meetings or work groups. Ability to research, understand, and evaluate instructional programs and methodologies for effectiveness in meeting school improvement targets. Ability to develop and deliver training for adult learners. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and ability to support the development and maintenance of various digital platforms relative to professional development and learning opportunities. The ability to think quickly and creatively to solve problems, conduct data analysis, and write/edit reports and presentations.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Masters degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, curriculum and instruction, adult learning or a similar subject area. School-based and central office administrative leadership experience preferred; extensive experience in developing, designing and delivering professional learning for adult learners using both in-person and virtual platforms. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must meet Maryland State certification requirements for Administrator I.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Frequent evening or weekend work attending meetings, conducting or observing training, attending conferences, etc.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with cross-office work among central services to ensure consistency and alignment of resources and support provided to schools. Supports offices in providing professional development to school and office staff in the development/refinement of strategic plans and providing training, and guidance to support deployment of resources and training. Utilizes innovative approaches to professional learning for all MCPS staff. Ensures clear communication, high-standards, and common workflows for the development and delivery of professional learning and development for all employee groups. Assists the ACPLD in increasing diversity in the MCPS workforce through progressive, proactive measures and by utilizing best practices. Researches, develops, designs/edits professional learning and project plans and drafts/edits correspondence to support the ACPLD. Prepares/oversees agendas/talking points for daily meetings, Board of Education meetings, and special events. Assists with the development and maintenance of professional learning and development for which OHRD is responsible. Represents the ACPLD on selected committees and at assigned meetings, plans, and makes presentations as requested. Collaborates with executive staff, associate superintendents, and directors to ensure effective cross-office collaboration and support to schools. Assists in building a professional learning community through staff meetings, retreats, institutes, and other professional growth activities. Researches, writes, edits, and reviews correspondence and prepares reports. Assists the chief in the development and maintenance of digital learning platforms. Performs other duties as assigned.
