SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, acts for, represents, and exercises the authority of the superintendent in engaging and developing strategic relationships with external stakeholders, including, business, industry, government, non-profit, foundation, and faith-based organization leaders. Supports the building of the school systems capacity to deliver on students college and career ready academic goals by connecting classroom learning to future careers in a competitive global economy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of organization development and project management strategies, strategic planning, leadership and management principles, executive meeting facilitation design and delivery, human resource and people management skills required. Ability to design a comprehensive development strategy that includes corporate and foundation support for MCPS college and career readiness initiatives. Proficiency in the use of computers and technology and common office software. Knowledge of public education issues and processes. Ability to quickly learn the unique environment and complexity of working in a public education institution. Strong presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. Five years documented experience in establishing joint development experiences to achieve a common goal required. Management experience with driving to successful completion complex joint programs preferred. Experience working with a board of business professionals preferred.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engages in strategic relationship planning with top MCPS and business, industry, government, non-profit, and faith-based leaders, setting objectives to identify and drive key joint programs.

Seeks new opportunities and enhances existing joint development experiences.

Coordinates activities of MCPS staff and business and community organization leaders to achieve the established joint goals, including solicitation of major gifts, special events, corporate and foundation support.


Oversees the management, distribution, and accountability of funding, as well as coordinates with the MCPS Foundation to ensure alignment.

Establishes good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with businesses, funders, politicians, and others to help achieve key partnerships that meet the academic goals of connecting classroom learning to future careers in a competitive global economy.

Delivers presentations, and participates in business conferences, seminars, and meetings with external executives to present MCPS strategic initiatives. Engages with the broader community to secure support for MCPS skills development initiatives and career readiness initiatives.

Positions the business community as co-developer of, and participant in, ¿next practices¿ to ensure students graduate prepared and inspired.

Enables business volunteers and their organizations to benefit from the shared learning and expanded professional network.

Oversees program evaluation and ensures follow up on actionable feedback with the businesses involved obtained from program evaluations.

Updates the Superintendent and the Board of Education members by responding quickly and efficiently to questions and prepares all Board meeting material

Oversees office administrative tasks such as; maintaining a database of strategic partnerships, being professionally responsive to inquiries, maintaining electronic and hard copy files, etc. and ensuring appropriate tracking of all partnerships and associated funding.
