EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and integrates long-range educational strategic plans and monitoring systems for initiatives and responsibilities supervised by the deputy superintendent. Assists direct reports to the deputy superintendent with strategic planning, monitoring systems, budget development, and implementation plans for major initiatives. Aligns Office of the Deputy Superintendent's strategic plans with the school system's overall strategic plan. Supports the deputy with utilizing data management systems and school system measures to analyze and monitor student progress, inform program and services decisions, and align resources and supports to support school improvement planning and improve student achievement. Advises and supports the deputy with the development of the school system budget and monitors account spending in collaboration with the chief financial officer. Plans and facilitates the deputy superintendent's leadership meetings with chiefs, associates, and directors and assists in building a professional learning community to meet their diverse needs and to contribute to the learning of others. Establishes structures and schedules outreach opportunities to engage district and community stakeholders to solicit input on system priorities and matters related to the district; and reports findings to the deputy and district leaders. Responds to school-based and central office staff by providing policy interpretations. Researches, writes, edits and reviews correspondence and prepares reports for the deputy and executive staff. Prepares/oversees agenda/talking points for daily meetings and special events. Responds to questions from Board members, parents, principals and community regarding instructional issues and related policies, regulations or local, state, and federal mandates. Stays current on policy, regulations and federal, state, and local law interpretations in response to questions from stakeholders which includes consulting with the general counsel. Assists with the development and maintenance of policies and regulations for which the deputy is responsible. Presents at meetings as requested by the deputy superintendent. Plans and facilitates professional learning communities for the executive directors and other leaders and staff supporting executive leaders. Represents the Office of the Deputy Superintendent on selected committees and at assigned meetings. Collaborates with chiefs on Board of Education papers, presentations, and other projects. Assists in building a professional learning community through executive leadership team meetings, retreats, and other professional development activities. Understands and applies principles of performance evaluation and professional growth standards for employees. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
