EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, implements, and evaluates long-term plans to ensure programs, services and activities are provided in accordance with Title II of the ADA. Provides assessment and consultation to employees with disabilities and their supervisors. Reviews ADA and Workman's Compensation requests and conducts investigations. Serves as MCPS representative on grievances and arbitrations relating to ADA issues. Maintains current knowledge of ADA and EEOC and other related court cases to update and document new guidance as needed and to ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures. Works and effectively communicates with diverse populations. Works with the Office of the General Counsel and outside counsel on relevant ADA compliance litigations and/or investigations. Serves as a subject matter expert on these issues and advises MCPS administrators and supervisor on legal matters. Counsels school-based and central office leaders regarding ADA and reasonable modification requests according to the law and system policy. Manages complaints of workplace bullying and harassment. Reviews requests for reasonable accommodation, makes recommendations, and manages the provision of accommodations. Prepares for and participates in EEOC and MCR hearings as directed. Collaborates with outside agencies and organizations on issues concerning persons with disabilities. Advises seriously ill employees regarding options available under ADA. Coordinates and provides information and training regarding the ADA reasonable accommodations process to administrators and human resources professionals so that they may better support adequate accommodations process. Supports the department to investigate workplace bullying and harassment claims or administrative complaints. Completes all related trainings as identified by the position supervisor. Performs other related duties.
