SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under the general direction of the director of the Department of Technology Integration and Support, coordinates and supports system-wide instructional leadership for innovative countywide programs and projects that promote and support improved teaching and learning through the integration of technology. This includes defining, leading, and coordinating staff in implementing priorities and initiatives centered on the effective use of interactive instructional technologies that transform teaching and learning. Collaborates with school-based and central office staff on special projects as assigned by the department director. Works with the department director to develop memos, presentations, and other products. Plans, coordinates, and facilitates department/division/unit meetings. Works with department divisions/units on strategic planning and process management. Facilitates timely delivery of products and services aligned with the MCPS strategic plan and other system initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of current research and best practices on national and state trends and research findings on the integration of technology with teaching, learning, and educational systems in fostering professional learning communities. Ability to manage multiple complex projects and achieve results within required time, functionality, performance, quality and budget requirements. Thorough understanding of highly effective instruction; of interactive, inquiry-based instruction; and on the integration of technology for teaching, learning, and assessment. Thorough knowledge in the educational uses of data to improve student achievement; and knowledge of how schools use data and information and change management strategies for professional development and staff support. Strong experience in using technology to improve instruction, to better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement. Excellent planning, organization, management, communications (oral and written) and human relations skills. Ability to prepare papers and presentations on key work efforts.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Masters or Masters Equivalent (MEQ) from an accredited college or university with emphasis on teaching, school leadership, curriculum, instruction, and/or instructional technology; minimum of five years outstanding teacher level experience; demonstrated excellence in leading the design of professional development on the use of instructional technologies.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Holds a current Maryland state Administration and Supervision certificate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Occasional overtime and attendance at evening meetings.

Coordinates and leads professional/instructional staff in building a repertoire of strategies that send messages of high expectations for all students through the use of innovative technologies.

Participates in and coordinates the design and implementation of differentiated, job-embedded professional development and/or training to meet stakeholders¿ needs and MCPS goals on the integration of innovative technologies.

Provides and coordinates customized training and skill- building opportunities for MCPS employees in offices and schools on using interactive technologies to facilitate school improvement, monitor instruction, and facilitate communication.

Oversees efforts that plan for students with special needs (i.e., GT, ELL, special education) to ensure that the instructional program meets their needs, specifically through the integration of innovative technologies.

Stays abreast of the latest research, best practices and system-wide data in order to provide leadership in the development of high-quality curriculum, assessments, and instructional innovations and practices that incorporate the powerful uses of innovative technologies.

Coaches and mentors members of the educational community in the meaningful and productive uses of technology for instruction and monitoring student performance.

Demonstrates exemplary written and oral communication skills

Applies knowledge of current research to practice

Models a variety of research-based best practices

Assists with grant writing opportunities that relate to innovative technologies transforming instructional programs.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
