WORKING TITLE: Coordinator, Division of Pupil Personnel Services (DPPAS) GRADE: N MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under the direction of the director of the Division of Pupil Personnel Services, the DPPAS coordinator is responsible for supporting the major bodies of work within the office. Reviews requests and makes decisions, in consultation with the director, on all Change of School Assignment (COSA) requests. Provides supervision, consultation and support to pupil personnel workers. Keeps abreast of policies and regulations that directly affect the work of the office. Assists with the mplementation of strategies to address truancy and chronic absenteeism. Supports the evolution and support of school-based Student Well-Being Teams. Serves on a variety of committees. Co-leads and serves as the contact person for the Alternative Programs Admissions Committee (APAC), in conjunction with leadership from the Alternative Education Programs at the Blair G. Ewing Center. Participates in the observations and evaluations of pupil personnel workers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of school and organizational leadership, equity and antiracism, and other related bodies of research. Knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools policies and procedures, strategic planning, and data analysis. Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively with school system staff, county government, business and agency partners, and the community. Knowledge of best practices and strategies to address truancy and/or chronic absenteeism. Excellent planning, organization, management, communications (oral and written) and human relations skills. Knowledge of the MCPS Professional Growth System (PGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or at least 5 years relevant experience. Must have experience in leadership and supervision, experience in MCPS preferred.. Training, coursework, and/or experience with, antiracism, equity, and inclusion. Five years outstanding professional experience in their area of expertise and level. Experience working in a school system or field of education required. Experience working effectively with community and government partner agencies, and multiple public school offices. Experience managing projects required. Experience in data analysis and policy and regulation development desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland requirements for certification in administration and supervision (Administrator I) or obtains certification within one year of the position start date. Completion of Observation and Analysis of Teaching (OAT) I required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works collaboratively with DPPAS director and Office of School Support and Well-Being associate superintendent to monitor and manage the implementation, effectiveness and impact of critical initiatives. 2. Reviews and makes decisions for Change of School Assignment (COSA) requests. 3. Provides consultation and feedback to pupil personnel workers. 4. Assists in building a professional learning community within DPPAS through professional learning, meetings, retreats, events and other professional activities. 5. Develops outreach and intervention expectations to address chronic absenteeism and truancy. 6. Collects, analyzes and interprets data to evaluate the effectiveness of Student Well-Being Teams. 7. Co-leads the Alternative Programs Admissions Committee (APAC) process. 8. Works collaboratively on system and community committees. 9. Participates in interviewing and hiring. 10. Collaborates on the observation and evaluation of pupil personnel workers. 11. Seeks out opportunities to work in a collaborative and coordinated manner with internal and external stakeholders. 12. Maintains records and data; assesses and reports on effectiveness of strategies; continually improves methods based on assessments, best practices and changing needs of the district and its students.
