EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as liaison among PEP staff members, school administration, and central office staff members including Child Find, DESC, and MCITP. Responds to parent/guardian questions, issues, and concerns. Serves as chairperson at IEP team meetings. Observes and evaluates professional and supporting services staff members in collaboration with principals and other administrators.Assists teachers in securing instructional materials, adapting services to meet individual student needs, and data collection and analysis. Collaborates with teachers and related service providers to ensure appropriate services to students in PEP. Participates in systemwide project teams and committees on topics related to prekindergarten special education.Coordinates and provides professional learning activities. Assists principals in interviewing and hiring PEP staff members.Monitors referrals for students from MCITP, DESC, Head Start/Pre-K and other prekindergarten programs.Coordinates the transition process from PEP to kindergarten. Participates in mediation and/or due process procedures as needed. Coordinates opening of new PEP classes and sites, including services in community preschools.Maintains accurate records, provides data, and prepares reports regarding critical staffing, overenrollment, student achievement, and other data relevant to the provision of prekindergarten special education services. Assists principals in addressing human relations and/or other staff member conflicts at PEP sites. Supervises and evaluates PEP Itinerant teachers. Implements grant-related activities. Collaborates with representatives of county government agencies and private and non-profit preschool programs.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
