Supervisor, Staff Development Projects

WORKING TITLE: Supervisor, Staff Development Projects GRADE: O MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, supervises projects related to staff development initiatives including new teacher induction (training and mentoring); university partnerships and professional development schools; supporting services training and development; Continuing Professional Development courses; tuition reimbursement; and other projects. Works with the associate superintendent of staff development to align projects with system priorities. Works with principals, teachers, supporting services staff, employee associations, and all MCPS offices to identify priorities and coordinate project implementation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of adult learning theory; change management; facilitation of high-performing teams; organizational and staff development theories; trends in organizational and staff development; and curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs. Proven ability in leadership and management. Strong communication, interpersonal and data analysis skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master's in staff development, educational curriculum, administration, or related field. Five years successful teaching experience. Experience in a staff-development related field. Administrative and supervisory experience required. Experience designing and modifying systemwide staff development programs; integrating technology into staff development programs; and utilizing of facilitation skills, practices, and techniques.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets State of Maryland requirements for principal and supervisor certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) None
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Availability to work evenings and weekends to attend meetings, to observe and conduct training, and to attend conferences and other personal professional development events.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops, implements and evaluates various staff development projects as assigned.

2. Develops and maintains university partnerships to promote employee staff development.

3. Supervises and evaluates staff who manage the various projects in the Office of Staff Development.

4. Works closely with staff from other MCPS offices and internal and external stakeholders to align projects with system goals and measures.

5. Observes and evaluates staff on the various project teams.

6. Collects and analyzes data to evaluate effectiveness of projects.

7. Serves as a member of the associate superintendent's leadership team.

8. Serves as the account manager for the various projects.

9. Serves on relevant work groups and task forces.

10. Performs related duties as needed.
