WORKING TITLE: Supervisor, Systems Management and Operations GRADE: K MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, manages district-wide student applications, including legacy student information system functionality and systems that interact with the student systems, including central calling platform, college and career applications, and school-based platforms that require central management. Supervises and develops technical staff. Assists in requirements gathering and developing documentation for the development of student systems in new platforms and their integrations with other applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge with enterprise-wide student applications. Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement current MCPS student systems. Ability to manage staff and resources for multiple projects effectively in order to achieve results on time and within budget. Ability to collaborate with other departments and offices to identify and accommodate user requirements in system functionality. Knowledge of Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) policies, regulations and practices. Requires excellent technical and oral/written communications skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Experience with Oracle and other enterprise databases, as well as web-based system architectures, client/server and centralized computing models desired. Experience in full life-cycle software project management. Considerable experience in information technology in a business or school environment or other combinations of applicable education, training and experience which may provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees the maintenance and operations of OASIS student systems not yet migrated to the new student information system.

Manages the integration of data between the Wazzle gradebook and other student systems.

Ensures business operations are conducted according to schedule and with optimal performance.

Collaborates with offices and colleagues to ensure continuity of service and that up to date business rules are reflected in student systems.

Works closely with staff in other divisions, departments and offices to support the vision, objectives and strategies of MCPS.

Understands and applies principles of performance evaluation and professional growth for employees.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
