EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes student and staff safety through effective strategic planning and execution.Develops and administers safety policies for the district that incorporate current applicable federal and state laws and regulations for school system safety. Identifies safety goals, objectives, and metrics consistent with the district¿s strategic plan. Designs and implements the school district¿s emergency management plan in response to potential safety threats. Creates a culture of safety across central service offices and departments and drives organizational behavioral changes for the system. Trains central office employees in safety, security, and emergency management techniques and practices. Provides direction to all MCPS safety committees enumerated in the labor management negotiated agreements.Collaborates and works closely with the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Leads emergency preparation efforts and conducts ongoing safety drills for school system readiness against external or internal threats. Designs and implements processes that enable consistent and effective security practices in every non-school facility. Ensures appropriate supervision and evaluation of all electronic detection center personnel.Oversees the background screening process for new and current employees, as well as volunteers and vendors.Monitors security cameras and door/card access issues. Performs security assessments of MCPS property and functions. Represents the school system in criminal court cases as necessary. Provides support for law enforcement and department of personnel staff in criminal and administrative investigations on MCPS property. Understands and applies the principles of performance evaluation and professional growth. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
