EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that appropriate financial accounting controls and procedures are in place and follows MCPS procedures and regulations and meets all federal, state, and local requirements.Manages and coordinates school financial accounting programs. Collaborates and manages funds in the IAF and school operating budget, in accordance with board policy, state statutes, and system guidelines. Researches products and services, pre-approves requests and monitors all purchases which includes preparing invoices, ordering and paying for goods and services either through Procurement Process, or with other vendors, troubleshooting orders, overseeing the reconciliation of bank accounts and purchase cards, acknowledging receipt of purchases, keeping inventory of goods and services, etc. Approves and releases payroll documents. Prepares for all audit activities, liaises with MCPS audit staff and provides all information required by the Internal Auditors. Reviews report with the Principal and implements recommendations as necessary.Collaborates with department heads and teachers when completing grant applications; confirms the grant application is in alignment with the educational goals of the department and verifies the money is used appropriately.Reviews all financial reporting before they are submitted to central office.Analyzes school financial data and advises the Principal and others as it relates to school finances and operations.Provides advice to the principal pertaining to MCPS policies, procedures, and regulations. Manages recycling and SERT programs.Participates in pilot programs and provides feedback to other schools and offices.Directs and supervises the building services manager to prioritize designated tasks and be responsive to all inquiries including outside grounds in a timely manner. Holds the building services manager accountable regarding the cleanliness of the facility and grounds; coaches the building services manager on personnel issues including hiring practices and leave policy for the staff.Directs and supervises the cafeteria manager to prioritize designated tasks and be responsive to all inquiries and student requests in a timely manner. Hold the cafeteria manager accountable regarding the servicing, of healthy, nutritious meals; coaches the cafeteria manager on personnel issues including hiring practices and leave policy for the staff.Works closely with the Athletic Director to make sure that the athletic facility and equipment meet safety standards and ensures that the athletic department stays within the fiscal year budget. Maintains and organizes inventory and sale of admission tickets. Coordinates the use and management of the building during the instructional day.Ensures collaboration with MCPS staff with logistics and planning of major school events.Arranges the use of the building. Works with school staff MCPS staff, and community users around the building for use and organize all of the related details. Partners with security to ensure the proper function and effectiveness of the cameras, alarms, electronic access, radios, etc. throughout the facility and grounds; andwith maintenance to ensure that repair requests are received and completed timely; and works with construction to address changes to the facility.Supervises and evaluates job performance for school financial specialist, building services manager, cafeteria manager, and other non-instructional staff as assigned. Collaborates with leadership in the recruitment, selection, evaluation and development of staff to create high-performing teams.Works with the principal to establish and maintain relationships with school organizations government agencies and other community organizations to ensure ongoing, two-way communication, and initiate activities which foster productive parent and community involvement.Serves as a liaison stakeholder with various high school, MCPS, and community groups including PTSA, the high education foundation, various boosters, controller¿s office, chief financial officer office, energy management, SERT, maintenance, procurement, DMM, transportation, construction, audit, ICB/CUPF, sub-contractors, outside vendors, religious groups, cultural schools, parents, staff, and students.Understands and applies principles of performance evaluation and professional growth for employees. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
