EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers the following programs: Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of a large fleet of school buses and other MCPS vehicles; school bus and other vehicle preventive maintenance; state-mandated school bus inspections; vehicle parts, supplies and shop equipment procurement; computerized vehicle parts inventory; shop equipment and other vehicle support equipment preventive maintenance and repair; computerized gasoline delivery and accounting system; compliance with OSHA and other safety requirements and coordination with MCPS Safety Office; data collection for MCPS/state reports and for state reimbursement; vehicle insurance repair program; in-house warranty program approved by major chassis manufacturers; in-service training program; overall pool car assignment and repair program; evaluation of all aspects of the vehicle repair program. Reviews technical and legal written materials regulating school bus and other vehicle repair, maintenance, and operation; investigates accidents when equipment failure is suspected;Evaluates all aspects of the vehicle maintenance and repair programs; assists the director of transportation in the formulation of school bus and other vehicle specifications for procurement purposes; Prepares budget requests, annual report of transportation costs and other reports as required; ensures proper accounting for vehicle operating, repair and maintenance costs; Attends Board of Education and other meetings when vehicle maintenance and/or specifications are involved. Serves as a member of the Inclement Weather Team.Performs related work as required.
