EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as primary supervisor of diagnostic and repair related to electric vehicles (school bus and white fleet). Serves as liaison to vendors working with school buses on electrification, charging stations, GPS, cameras, and the two-way radios in school system vehicles and equipment.Tests repaired equipment for compliance with safety standards with fleet maintenance employees and vendors.Supervises and makes repair recommendations and plans to identify defective, broken or out-of-tolerance parts or assemblies by inspecting or using equipment such as, but not limited to, volt meters, dongles, and other items. Maintains written and electronic documentation of records.Recruits bus operators to drive EVs.Serves as a member of the DOT Leadership Team.Creates and maintains parts inventory database related to electric vehicles, charging stations, and other infrastructure to support the longevity and integrity of the electrification of multiple depots and future sites.Contacts vendors with any known issues relating to equipment warranty and replacement parts.Coordinates and arranges hardware, telecommunications, and maintenance repairs with in-house staff and designated contractors.Serves as a liaison to secure other technology services such as training or second-level support.Responsible for overseeing and managing projects and small-scale hardware integration, computer peripheral integration, and hardware inventory management. This includes GPS hardware and software for monitoring location of buses as well as onboard vehicle technology and telemetry to know bus readiness, vehicle status related to electric charges.Proactively participates in projects including the contribution to knowledge tools and planning of professional development.Provides regular, routine, on-site support to assigned locations. May also provide backup support as needed. This includes frequently working with fleet maintenance employees, bus operators, and depot supervisors.Facilitates, coordinates, and schedules in-person, virtual or on-the-job training to bus operators, supervisors, fleet maintenance employees, and others related to electric vehicles, charging stations and infrastructure and associated software and applications.Attends trainings, seminars, and conferences as an attendee or a speaker to maintain and obtain new certifications as required, or to share and present data and information on behalf of the district and the department.Works extensively with the transportation leadership team, procurement, legal, and other internal stakeholders to recommend and implement future purchasing, leasing, modifications to contracts, and other processes that may be confidential, proprietary or sensitive. May need to travel to vendors or other non-local destinations in order to inspect, test, and provide input on prototypes relative to electrification of vehicles and infrastructure demands.Supervises employees while performing safety-sensitive functions including but not limited to behind-the-wheel training on electric vehicles, mechanics in shop facilities, and during demonstrations of electric vehicles.Performs related work as assigned.
