WORKING TITLE: Specialist, Business and Community Partnerships GRADE: BD MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction of the director of the Partnerships Unit, liaises with and coordinates the planning and implementation of partnerships with industry partners, higher education institutions, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and school district staff to support the expansion of meaningful partnerships through enriching opportunities for students along all of the MCPS career pathways. Explores labor market needs and conducts feedback sessions from leaders in industries to help recommend curricular changes when needed. Familiarizes self with opportunities to earn credentials and certifications in order to expand career-based learning opportunities for students.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of how schools are structured from a K-12 perspective, partnership programs and career readiness pathways which enhance foundational learning opportunities for students. Considerable knowledge about workforce development programs and first-hand experience in working with partners to develop programs. Must demonstrate ability to actualize vision/programming with potential partners and scale developed programs. Must be articulate and demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate ability to prioritize and multi-task work. Demonstrated ability to build and grow relationships with community organizations and business partners. Must demonstrate great interpersonal skills along with ability to use time effectively especially when working with business partners. Must be highly organized and set priorities with a demonstrated ability to effectively plan, and evaluate priorities. Energetic and self-driven with solid judgment abilities. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Ability to be flexible while working in a fast-paced work environment with a commitment to get the job done. Must be responsible, reliable and dependable. Highly skilled in using Google Drive, Sheets, and Classroom to manage activities. Demonstrated ability to present articulately, succinctly and to cater presentations, conversations and body of work to different audiences.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred. Experience in both education and business environments desired. Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation a must, experience for 2 or more years with the same partner in program planning, organization, and coordination and experience with multiple internal and external stakeholders a must. Documented leadership and broad experience working effectively with diverse staff, community and other stakeholders desired. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must have personal transportation to meet with potential business partners.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability and willingness to be flexible with schedule attending or facilitating early morning or evening meetings and weekend functions with stakeholders.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and implements a partnership strategy to broaden the business base currently involved in supporting career readiness programs.

Creates surveys using the Google Drive, manages content in Google Sheets, and utilizes platforms, such as Google Classroom to manage activities.

Proposes initiatives that can expand learning opportunities for students mainly for career-based learning opportunities but also for other areas of student needs.

Helps to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with business and higher education partners, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and MCPS school-based and central office staff.

Supports the expansion of career-based opportunities for students including efforts through Summer RISE, work-based learning, internships and apprenticeships.

Proposes and develops opportunities for staff members to deepen their knowledge of careers and pre-requisites to pursue careers in today¿s market to better provide guidance to students.

Links school and office needs with existing or new partnerships.

Helps to expand the work of current partnerships when desired.

Actively researches programs and ideas related to the work of the Partnerships Unit in order to expand and improve program offerings.

Uses data to inform planning and decisions.

Able to synthesize data using Excel or Google sheets.

Writes concise and cohesive reports quickly when needed to provide updates to the Board of Education, senior level leaders, business leaders and community partners or principals and parents.

Represents the Partnerships Unit on task forces and committees.

Monitors the effective implementation of Board policies and district procedures regarding partnerships and recommends goals, policies, and programmatic changes.

Develops and presents information and programs to the Montgomery County Board of Education, professional staff, and community groups.

Supports the Summer RISE and the GIVE BACKpacks campaign.

Supports the Superintendents Leadership Academy.

Liaisons with parent action groups and other organizations as designated by the director.

Understands and applies principles of performance evaluation and professional growth standards for employees.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
