SUMMARY DESCRIPTION; PHYSICAL DEMANDS; AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of the Division of Teaching and learning and system related to: graduation validation; secondary school courses; secondary course bulletins and course code management; transcripts; School SAT and PSAT day; Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Montgomery County, and MCPS related reports and accountability; National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility; and project management support. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: None SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some evening meetings with parent or community groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of public school courses of study and elementary and middle school programs, preferably within MCPS; knowledge of public school education-related policies and regulations, with experience related to high school graduation requirements, courses and programs of study, transcripts, and student eligibility, preferably within MCPS. Excellent organizational skills; excellent human relations skills; strong written and oral communication skills. Has the ability to work and communicate effectively with outside partners, MCPS administrators, and school-based staff. Skilled at accessing student data using Performance Matters and Synergy. Demonstrates excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills. Prioritizes and manages several tasks simultaneously.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of three years’ successful experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Experience with scheduling students and MCPS courses and course codes, assisting students in meeting graduation requirements preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching or counseling area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as Division of Teaching and Learning liaison for graduation validation, including serving on the cross office graduation validation team, reviewing student records, and supporting schools at school locations.Supports the implementation of secondary courses across all content areas and high school programs of study.Edits and updates the High School and Middle School Course Bulletins for final publication each year.Serves as a liaison to the Department of Student and Data Systems and to the departments in the Division of Teaching and Learning in relation to course code management and implementation of the student information system for all secondary courses and high school programs of study.Coordinates MCPS course information with MSDE state and federal course codes, scheduling database, and other accountability metrics.Coordinates the pilot course process.Works with central service staff to manage secondary courses, including ongoing monitoring to add/change/delete courses.Updates MCPS course list for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility.Responds to parent and student inquiries.Tracks division vendor and partner contracts and agreements from across the division, maintaining an up to date database of contracts, status in development process, duration and expiration, and notifies staff when renewals should be considered.Participates in Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) meetings related to work.Performs related work as required.
