SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of individual schools related to system goals for the effective use of interactive instructional technologies; assists in developing and leading professional development for school leadership teams and staff that fosters the development of technological pedagogical content knowledge and rigorous instructional practices, including but not limited to critical thinking, differentiation, and assessment as and for learning. Additionally exhibits specific expertise in the use of Web 2.0 tools as an integrated part of teachers¿ instructional programs and for facilitating professional development of school leadership and staff; supports teachers in the creation and development of interactive, inquiry-based lessons that facilitate the purposeful use of technology and incorporate digital content resources; supports the creation and development of multi-modal, universally designed, community-centered classrooms that provide access, opportunity, and support for a diverse range of learners; and supports implementation of myMCPS to use data and information more effectively to improve instruction and instructional management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Understanding and demonstration of highly effective instruction; of interactive, inquiry-based instruction; of effective collaboration with colleagues on the development and implementation of multi-modal, universally designed, community-centered classrooms. Also, knowledge, application, and modeling of the latest research, best practices and system-wide data in order to provide support for the development of high-quality curriculum, assessments, and instructional innovations and practices that incorporate the powerful uses of innovative technologies. Also, specific expertise in the educational uses of data to improve student achievement; knowledge of how schools use data and information and change management strategies for professional development and staff support; strong experience in interpreting student achievement data using technology systems. Strong content background in English, mathematics, science and/or social studies and teaching pedagogy; ability to work effectively with classroom teachers, principals, and parent organizations; strong experience in using technology to improve instruction, better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement; excellent human relations skills; strong written and oral communication skills. This position requires the knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Masters or Masters Equivalant (MEQ) from an accredited college or university with emphasis on teaching, school leadership, curriculum, instruction, and/or instructional technology; minimum of five years outstanding teacher level experience; demonstrated excellence in use of instructional technology.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Holds a current Maryland state standard and advanced professional certificate in a teaching area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must be able to move materials/equipment to and from different training sites.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists professional/instructional staff in building a repertoire of strategies that send messages of high expectations for all students through the use of innovative technologies that improve instruction, better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement

Participates in the design and implementation of differentiated, job-embedded professional development and/or training to meet stakeholders¿ needs and MCPS goals to leverage innovative technologies that improve instruction, better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement

Provides and supports the development customized training and skill- building opportunities for MCPS employees in offices and schools on using interactive classroom technologies to facilitate school improvement, monitor instruction, and facilitate communication

Advocates for students with special needs (i.e., GT, ELL, special education) to ensure that the instructional program meets their needs, specifically through the integration of innovative technologies

Coaches and mentors members of the educational community in the meaningful and productive uses of technology for instruction and monitoring student performance.

Assists with grant writing opportunities that relate to innovative technologies transforming instructional programs

Performs related work and other duties as required.
