WORKING TITLE: Teacher, Extended Day Programs GRADE: AD MONTHS: 10
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision of the Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships, and the school-based administrator, assists in the design, implementation, delivery and oversight of afterschool programs and services for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Collaborates with central office staff, business leaders, school administrators, teachers, parents, students, departments and agencies of Montgomery County Government, community and other youth serving organizations to identify and deliver afterschool program activities to support student success, ensuring community and school-based partners provide high quality after school programs that meet MCPS commitments to provide all students with the skills and knowledge needed for success to compete and thrive in the 21st century.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of MCPS and its human resources, community and business organizations and activities; knowledge of school and classroom organization and mission; knowledge of after school programs delivered in schools and in partnership with other organization; knowledge of school/business partnership development processes. Demonstrates strong presentation and effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates timeliness and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal interaction. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in education from an accredited college or university required. Minimum of three years teaching experience required. Course work and/or experience in the development and administration of volunteer and partnership programs required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification requirements for secondary education. Work-Based Learning certification is highly recommended.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Attends school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement required. Available to work during the hours of 3:00 to 6:15 p.m. May NOT perform any other stipend or volunteer service unrelated to afterschool programming within the school building or elsewhere during program hours.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. Collaborates with the appropriate offices in identifying and assigning space for the after school programs ensuring smooth operations of programs and observing current practices.

Assists in resolving conflicts resulting from facility use, program placement, and incident management and reporting; etc. and makes recommendations for policy and guideline changes related to the program as needed.

Coordinates the implementation of activities to address program needs.

Assists with identifying after school programs, target student audience, selecting program providers and providing general program coordination assistance to school staff, student, parents, community and providers.

Updates and maintains participant and program records and materials each year.

Provides program updates and changes to all relevant partners.

Coordinates and convenes regular partner and committee meetings, as requested.

Assists in developing outreach presentations designed to engage the local community and encourage parent involvement with this initiative.

Maintains liaisons with organizational partners and program providers to ensure partnership integrity.

Collects data and prepares reports for submission to school and OCEP leadership.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
