WORKING TITLE: Teacher, Consulting Team Co-Lead, GRADE: AD MONTHS: 10
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: (Two-year rotating position) The Co-Lead of the Consulting Teacher Team will coordinate and support the work of the Consulting Teachers. The Co-Lead will work under the direction of the Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) Panel and the Associate Superintendent of the Office of Organizational Development (OOD), and will collaborate with school-based, central office, and employee association staff to ensure that the Consulting Teacher Program operates in fidelity with the Teacher Professional Growth System. The Co-Lead Consulting Teacher will assist Consulting Teachers in learning and applying the knowledge, skills, and best practices needed to support novice and underperforming teachers in meeting standard and to provide documentation to inform Teacher PAR Panel decisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the Teacher Professional Growth System Handbook, effective practices of a Consulting Teacher, and the mission and vision of the Consulting Teacher Team. Ability to coach others through challenging situations. Outstanding organization, writing, data management and analysis, and interpersonal skills; ability to present and discuss the work of the Consulting Teacher Team in a variety of settings. Ability to analyze, design, conduct, and evaluate training. Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS), and the Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Must be in third year of Consulting Teacher rotation.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Certification as teacher in the State of Maryland.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Must be available for 25 days of scheduled summer activities and training, and for PAR activities which may extend beyond the normal duty day.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

¿ Coordinates day-to-day operation of the Consulting Teacher Team
¿ Coaches Consulting Teachers to support management of routine and problematic situations
¿ Assigns clients to Consulting Teachers, in consultation with Co-Chairs of the Teacher PAR Panel
¿ Serves as liaison with various stakeholders and other MCPS personnel, such as: PAR Panel Co-Chairs and members, principals, Associate Superintendent for OOD, Teacher Professional Growth System Implementation Team, OOD Fiscal/Logistic Assistant, other OOD teams, Office of Human Resources, University Partnership Programs
¿Attends Teacher PAR Panel meetings
¿Supports Consulting Teachers in preparing to present teacher performance data to the Teacher PAR Panel
¿Supports limited caseload of client-teachers
¿Oversees collection and management of data related to Teacher PAR Program; analyzes and reports program data to stakeholders
¿Represents Consulting Teacher Team as Team Leader within OOD
¿Serves on Teacher Professional Growth System Implementation Team; provides updates on program at monthly meetings
¿Plans and facilitates semi-monthly Consulting Teacher Team meetings
¿Coordinates, develops, and delivers summer and ongoing training for the Consulting Teacher Team
¿Collaborates with New Teacher Induction (NTI) program, coordinates Consulting Teacher Team participation in NTI activities, including New Educator Orientation
¿Plans and delivers presentations for various audiences to promote understanding of the Consulting Teacher Program and Teacher Professional Growth System
¿Coordinates recruitment and hiring of Consulting Teachers
Performs related work as required.
