EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans a developmentally appropriate balanced literacy program, for primary grade students that ensures Success for Every Student.Provide explicit reading instruction to small groups of students (usually 15 or less) incorporating all components of a primary reading program including guided reading, independent literacy centers, word work, shared reading, read aloud, independent reading, and modeled/shared/guided writing.Meet and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.Establish learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, requirements of MCPS curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, MCPS policy and administrative regulations.Participates in school management and shares responsibility for the total school program.Assists the administrator in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, developing and enforcing reasonable rules of classroom behavior.Makes provision to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.Perform related work as required.
