WORKING TITLE: Teacher, Career Prep Business Partnership Program GRADE: AD MONTHS: 10
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision of the director of Community Outreach, assists in the design and implementation and delivery of business/community partnership programs for Montgomery County Public Schools. Work involves direct contact with business leaders, school administrators, teachers, parents, and students, to identify, design, and deliver business partnership program activities to support student success, particularly in the areas of career awareness and school to career transition. Such program elements might include, but not be limited to, mentoring, tutoring, job shadowing, and career fair and work experience opportunities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Montgomery County and its human resources, community and business organizations and activities; knowledge of school and classroom organization and mission; knowledge of instructional programs and curriculum development; knowledge of school/business partnership development processes. Demonstrates ability to speak well and write clearly and effectively. Ability to motivate staff and volunteers. Willingness to become familiar with MCPS policies. Skill in training and working with staff. Excellent human relations and communication skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university. Minimum of three years teaching experience required. Course work and/or a minimum of two years experience in the development and administration of volunteer and partnership programs required. Knowledge of Q&A word processing and database management required (Write, File & Report). Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland state certification requirements for secondary education.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the director of Community Outreach and the coordinator of Volunteer and Community

Resources in providing materials, processes, and technical assistance to support school efforts to develop and manage partnership programs with local businesses and organizations.

Assists principals, school and business Adopt-A-School partnership coordinators, parents and students in the development of school/business partnership activities to support school curricula and student success.

Serves as a member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Adopt-A-School Committee.

Assists in the recruitment of businesses to participate in the Adopt-A-School Program.

Assists school and business Adopt-A-School partnership coordinators in the development and delivery of programs to help students succeed in school and work settings.

Works with the MCPS Coordinator and the Chamber committee to plan and implement fall orientation and spring appreciation events.

Assists the coordinator to plan and implement training programs for school and business staffs for
partnership program development.

Communicates with partners to maintain an accurate database on partnerships.

Assists the Chamber committee to plan strategies for the recruitment and retention of partnerships.

Performs other related duties as required.
