WORKING TITLE: Teacher, Career Prep Internship Coordinator GRADE: AD MONTHS: 10
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision of the school-based administrator, serves as the lead instructor for the internship program. Assists in the design, implementation, and delivery of internship program with business/community partnerships for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). Work involves weekly delivery of instructional program, direct contact with central office administration, business leaders, school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to identify and deliver program activities to support student success, particularly in the areas of career development. Monitor and maintain oversight of work experience opportunities for all students enrolled in internship courses (per the MCPS course bulletin) to meet required program hours. Secure written agreement with off school site work based partners for paid and/or unpaid site-based placement, experience, and assessment. Such program elements may include mentoring, tutoring, presentations, and paid and/or unpaid site-based experience placement and assessment. Works jointly with community partners to develop student goals and assessment measures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of MCPS and its human resources, community and business organizations and activities; knowledge of school and classroom organization and mission; knowledge of instructional programs and curriculum development; knowledge of school/business partnership development processes. Demonstrates strong presentation and effective written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal interaction.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in education from an accredited college or university. Minimum of three years teaching experience required. Course work and/or experience in the development and administration of volunteer and partnership programs required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification requirements for secondary education. Work-Based Learning certification is highly recommended.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the Montgomery County Education Association (MCEA) agreement.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with students, site coordinator, career academy teacher and school based instructors to align internships experiences to meet the goals of each individual student work-based plan.

Develop instructional seminars and implementation of activities to address program needs.

Attend required district meetings

Implement the necessary activities associated with the achievement of a successful internship.

Work directly with students on all aspects of their internship site placement including interviewing skills, resume building, and job-readiness.

Develop and evaluate academic assignments, provides regular updates, and maintains curriculum materials each year.

Collects data and prepares reports for submission to MSDE as requested.

Develops and maintains communication with industry representatives to ensure partnerships integrity.

Visit and assess all worksites at least once a semester to insure all worksites comply with MCPS Memorandum of Understanding and student individual work plan activities are safe for students.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
