SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of the school or program related to system goals for the effective use of interactive instructional technologies; assists in developing asynchronous learning materials, procuring digital learning applications, and leading professional development experiences for school or program teams and staff that fosters the development of technological pedagogical content knowledge and rigorous instructional practices; including but not limited to critical thinking, differentiation, and assessment as and for learning. Additionally, serves as a knowledgeable resource and guide to teachers and school/office leadership in the use of interactive digital tools as an integrated part of teachers¿ instructional programs and for facilitating professional development of school leadership and staff; supports teachers in the creation and development of interactive, inquiry-based lessons that facilitate the purposeful use of technology and incorporate digital content resources; and supports the creation and development of multi-modal, universally designed, community-centered classrooms that provide access, opportunity, and support for a diverse range of learners. This teacher support position works directly with adults to support the implementation of the instructional program and assists them in improving teaching and learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Understanding and demonstration of highly effective instruction; of interactive, inquiry-based instruction; of effective collaboration with colleagues on the development and implementation of multi-modal, universally designed, community-centered classrooms. Knowledge of development of high-quality interactive, digital curriculum, assessments, and instructional innovations and practices that incorporate the powerful uses of innovative technologies. Strong curriculum and instructional technology background in K-12 education, and teaching pedagogy; ability to work effectively with classroom teachers and school leaders; strong experience in using technology to improve instruction, better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement; strong written and oral communication skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university required. Coursework and/or experience in the effective use of current technology, software and applications in K-12 educational settings.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Meets Maryland State certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Required to attend school/office meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advises and supports professional/instructional staff in creating asynchronous and synchronous lessons, centers, clubs, and experiences through the use of innovative technologies that improve instruction, better meet the needs of all learners, and foster student participation and engagement.
Serves as liaison between central office staff and school administration and staff to ensure clear communication and identification of schools' technology needs.
Collaborates with vendors, organizations, and other districts to create and promote STEAM experiences within the school and/or program within MCPS.
Creates and supports the development of customized training and skill- building opportunities for school staff using interactive classroom technologies to facilitate school improvement, monitor instruction, and facilitate communication about STEAM opportunities, instructional technology, and communication out to stakeholders of the school/program.
Conducts collaborative research and takes a lead role in procuring digital curriculum and online applications to support student learning
Manages and tracks student licensing and provisioning of online subscriptions
Supports teachers with collaborative planning on the purposeful and intentional use of instructional technology in teaching, learning, and assessment.
Provides technical support in the use of applications and software used in virtual learning and other teaching-related technologies
Identifies and contributes to grant writing opportunities that relate to innovative technologies transforming instructional programs.
Analyzes data on the effective use of instructional technologies and participation in STEAM related experiences.
Keeps abreast of new technologies and research on using technology in K-12 environments.
Performs related work and other duties as required.
