EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as liaison between EML students, parents, and schools. Provides English language development instruction to students enrolled in the ELD program. Collaborates with appropriate school staff in selecting the ELD Instructional Model and developing a schedule used for implementing the ELD instructional program. Selects and orders textbooks and instructional materials for use in the ELD classroom, as appropriate. Participates in appropriate in-service programs or other professional staff development activities. Participates in EML Team meetings, as well as other meetings essential to supporting students who are EML, such as parent conferences and EMT meetings. Develops the accommodations documentation (ELD plan) for EML students in collaboration with the EML team. Administers and scores the state-mandated English language proficiency placement test to determine eligibility for enrollment in the ELD program. Administers the annual state-mandated English language proficiency assessment. Maintains EML student files on individual EML students to comply with local, state, and federal accountability requirements. Collaborates with general educators on strategies to differentiate instruction and effectively engage EML students in the non-ELD classroom. Collaborates on professional development activities for school staff to support the academic success of EMLs. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
