EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with special education staff members and supervisors of special education to provide consultative support to teachers of students with mild to moderate and significant intellectual disabilities with a focus on service models including Extensions, Learning For Independence, Autism, and School Community-based services.Provides instructional and behavioral support to special education teachers.Collects data on student performance and administers and interprets formal, informal, and classroom-based assessments for students with intellectual disabilities in order to assist in instructional decisions designed to improve student achievement in the LRE.Assists with the selection and adaptation of materials to assist students with intellectual disabilities to access ALOs aligned with Curriculum 2.0 and other curriculum models.Participates in the development and implementation of professional learning activities designed to advance teacher knowledge in the areas of instruction, best practices, behavior theory and management, and other information as may be necessary for effective classroom instruction and programming for students with disabilities.Leads or participates in designated MCPS, Office of Special Education, or DSES projects.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
