EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a member of the school¿s Individualized Education Program (IEP) team and/or the school¿s Collaborative Problem Solving Team.Identifies learning needs of students through observation of student behaviors, administration of appropriate assessments and from information provided by parents and other professionals involved with the student. Provides direct and consultative instruction to students with disabilities in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).Develops IEPs linked to the MCPS curriculum for students with disabilities.Provides instruction for students. Selects appropriate teaching techniques, modifying tasks and materials to accommodate individual needs. Provides and evaluates instruction for students on written work. Implements effective classroom and behavior management strategies. Supervises paraeducator assigned to students with special needs.Consults/team teaches with regular classroom teachers in accommodating for students in the LRE emphasizing the student's learning style and sharing ideas, techniques, methods, and materials.Provides and explains diagnostic information to general educators working with the student.Participates in IEP team meetings, and revises the IEP document as appropriate.Participates in county-wide and school-based professional development activities.Communicates with parents regarding the IEP, student progress, and any parental concerns.Provides case management responsibilities and maintains current records on student progress.Attends team-planning and grade-level meetings, presenting relevant, organized information.Performs other related duties as assigned.
