EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides both direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities and general classroom teachers.Serves as liaison between school staff and school administration including special education supervisor. Prepares for EMT/IEP team meetings and coordinates case management.Interprets both formal, informal, and classroom based assessment for students in order to make instructional decisions. Compiles and analyzes data obtained from observation, assessment, and teaching to develop an IEP for the student, improve student outcomes, and direct instruction.Selects and adapts materials to assist students with disabilities to access the general education curriculum.Consults with general education teachers in accommodating for included students, emphasizing the student¿s learning. Shares ideas, techniques, methods, and materials with general education teachers. Participates in professional development activities designed to advance teacher knowledge in the areas of instruction, best practices, differentiated instruction, changes in educational policy, and other information as may be necessary to effective classroom instruction and programming for students with disabilities.Supervises and plans for the continuing professional development of paraeducators assigned to students with disabilities. Communicates with parents regarding the IEP, student progress, and any other parental concerns.Maintains accurate records documenting student progress.Participates in team planning meetings by presenting relevant and organized information.Provides physical management of students with disabilities in compliance with all federal and state guidelines.Performs other related duties as assigned.
