EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resolves individual problems or inquiries referred from the Call Center and Transactions team, unit staff, from employees, and from principals and directors. Recommends policies and procedures in support of the attendance, leave, and worker's compensation programs.Implements changes to attendance, leave, and worker's compensation programs to comply with negotiated agreements, changes in benefit plans, regulatory and other requirements. Works closely with ERSC Technology, Reporting, and Systems Support staff to ensure inclusion and fulfillment of functional requirements in systems implementations. Works with principals/directors, employees, medical professionals, unions, lawyers, third party administrator for workers¿ compensation claims, and federal/state/local agencies to ensure the fair and consistent application of attendance, leave, and workers compensation policies/practices. Works closely with ERSC Technology, Reporting, and Systems Support staff to develop databases, web pages, handbooks, memos, etc., that will enable wide-spread communication of attendance, leave, and workers compensation policies/practices. Gives presentations on attendance, leave, and workers compensation policies/practices to employee and management groups. Runs verification reports as a means of monitoring the quality of and compliance with attendance, leave, and workers compensation policies/practices. Uploads and processes out of work slips and wage statements for workers' compensation claims.Processes payroll for employees on paid long-term leave. Researches and determines appropriate actions relative to union contracts and related factors, performs the proper calculations, and informs timekeepers of child care leave posting instructions; ensures compliance with MCPS leave procedures.Reviews sick leave bank agenda and confirms employees have properly submitted leave paperwork.Assesses employee circumstances and accurately applies MCPS guidelines, FMLA and negotiated contracts for processing leave, such as personal illness, illness in family, child care leave for maternity/paternity, adoption/foster etc. Assesses, explains and recommends options (such as leave options, sick bank or workers' compensation procedures) to employees. Imports, scans and indexes documents into employee file through Docuware.Runs attendance reports and calculates duty days and enters appropriate leave information to generate email notification to employees, principals/supervisors.Researches, analyzes and processes child birth notification, which includes calculating the 60 duty days, determining FMLA paid/unpaid leave based on union contracts; and notifies the timekeeper of the leave payroll posting instructions.Assists with and presents trainings to timekeepers and supervisors in various offices about leave guidelines and procedures.Serves as backup to call center assistants.Performs related work as required.
