WORKING TITLE: Data Integration Specialist, OSA GRADE: 23 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under supervision within the Office of Shared Accountability, the Data Integration Specialist monitors system-wide performance measures; enters formats and analyzes data; and produces periodic reports on the status of the district and of schools. Supports the preparation of reports and files of system data for filing with the Maryland State Department of Education and the U.S. Office of Civil Rights.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of programming languages and tools including HTML, SQL. Database management and data analysis software and auxiliary tools such as SPSS and/or SAS, IDMS, Culprit, Oracle Discoverer, FileMaker Pro and/or Microsoft Access. Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows operating software. Ability to learn new software and processes as they become available. Ability to work independently.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. Course work in computer science, technology, information management systems, or related field is preferred. Other applicable training and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position, will be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must operate PC workstations for sustained periods of time.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability to work overtime as necessary to meet required deadlines.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designs, develops, and maintains various OSA databases and data files which may include substantial system accountability reports, both internal and external in nature.

Compiles data from databases to create reports, graphs, charts and statistical data on a periodic schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly).

Develops data files, verifies data accuracy, enters and corrects data and modifies file structures. Synchronizes MCPS¿s student information database (OASIS) with MSDE¿s Unique Student Identifier System (USIS).

Develops web-based applications to disseminate statistical data and reports.

Retrieves, manipulates, and processes data from relational databases using SQL coding and SPSS syntax.

Produces reports from data using Microsoft Access, Filemaker and/or Excel in the structure and format as required by various clients.

Uses Adobe Pro to produce and/or edit press quality PDF documents.

Communicates and coordinates with other offices and community groups, such as PTSAs and the U.S. Military, to prepare and disseminate system wide data, reports, and publications such as the biannual Civil Rights Data Collection and Reporting.

Responds quickly and accurately to ad hoc data requests from schools, offices, and the community.
