WORKING TITLE: IT Service Technician I, IEP System - Online Student Intervention Data Technician GRADE: 14 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision, performs skilled office support for the Web-based Intervention/IEP System. The work of the class involves accessing, monitoring, and maintaining various electronic databases of a confidential nature. Employees must be familiar with confidentiality regulations and responsible for assuring the safe and proper treatment of such data. Work requires frequent contact with the end user and other staff to provide support. Must be familiar with the MCPS network, directory structures, and login procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in the operation of desktop computers and common workplace software, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications. Ability to manipulate data files and produce required reports. Ability to use organizational strategies, to work under tight deadlines, and communicate effectively with all staff. Good human relations and communications skills. Experience with IEP decision-making process and special education terminology. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School or GED diploma required. Training in operation of work processing and office systems machines and progressively responsible experience in using computer terminals in word processing, database or spreadsheet software applications. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Requires operating computer terminals for sustained period of time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Answers questions from users, referring complex questions or problems to the Web-based Student Intervention/IEP System project manager.
2. Works collaboratively with team during development, testing, and initial use of Online Student Intervention/IEP System.
3. Inputs data for state and local reporting.
4. Works collaboratively with MCPS Help Desk on support issues.
5. Extracts data from data files and transfers data to other applications.
6. Updates user profiles and access levels.
7. Inputs student and school data into Student Intervention/IEP system.
8. Assists with staff development activities in high and low tech environments.
9. Assists with directions for software use through verbal and written communication.
10. Troubleshoots technical difficulties with staff, answering questions when possible and referring staff to a higher level of software support when necessary.
11. Updates Filemaker Pro databases.
12. Performs related work as required.
