EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in new hardware/software planning and evaluation for communications in multiple languages. 2. Installs and configures system, manages user access, troubleshoots issues, technical point of contact with vendor. 3. Develops and/or modifies system software for specific department needs, integrating system into existing MCPS Web and print publishing workflows. 4. Programs custom extensions to interface directly with MCPS Web publishing system, content management software, databases, and application servers. 5. Develops technical training materials and conducts training sessions for analysts, application programmers, computer operations staff, and other users of the computer center to insure efficient utilization of all computer hardware and software components for communications in multiple languages. 6. Provides technical assistance for analysts, application programmers, computer operations staff, and other users of the computer center to resolve operational and programming problems related to non-Roman fonts and input systems. 7. Charts usage and capacity data and projects for resource changes; develops sound business cases to support a system change; plans and implements full system changes; manages a product change with varying levels of impact on the user community; develops sound rationale for product changes because of technical changes. 8. Identifies product oversell, evaluates correctly, and presents a clear argument for or against; develops cases for/against systems software and makes presentations to staff. 9. Maintains capacity statistics for areas of responsibility and recommends resource adjustments with sufficient lead time for budgeting. Maintains current knowledge/ expertise on new hardware/software. 10. Acts as liaison for the Translation Unit to secure other technology services (such as training or second level support) tracking all requests and problems until fulfilled or resolved. 11. Aids in development of new multilingual technology initiatives, including project descriptions, reports, and resource planning. 12. Designs and conducts formal training classes or provides one-on-one training, with special emphasis on use of the network, server, workstation, and software applications to meet multilingual information technology needs. 13. Performs related work as required.
